Evenings Afield: Restoring Pine Relicts & Savannas

Discover one of the Driftless Area’s hidden ecological treasures during this guided hike hosted by the Driftless Area Land Conservancy. Participants will hike along Knobs Road—the height of land between the Lowery Creek and Mill Creek watersheds—to explore rare, northern-like plant communities and fire-dependent oak savanna.

The group will visit the eastern rocky knob to learn directly from landowners who are actively restoring the savanna and prairie, sharing their unique restoration journey, discoveries, and vision for the future. Attendees should be prepared for rugged hiking, which will offer rewarding views along the way.

This event is part of the Lowery Creek Watershed Initiative, and advance registration is required to attend. Spots are limited.
