Free Elderberry U-Pick Event, For Science!

Join the Savanna Institute at Valley Farm for a fun and educational elderberry harvest! Elderberry Breeder Lily Hislop is gathering feedback on people’s plant and picking preferences, so guests can learn about the fruit, share their thoughts, and take home as many berries as they would like. A brief harvest “how-to” session begins at 4:15 PM, followed by a self-directed harvest from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM. Participants should bring their own containers, though spare buckets will be available for a suggested donation.

This is an all-ages event with limited spots, and an additional harvest is also planned for September 11. Note that the event is weather-dependent and will be rescheduled in the case of thunder and lightning.
