Grow and Gather: Fall Foraging
September 26 @ 9:30 am – 12:30 pm
Come explore Phoebe Point Trail and learn how to forage with Taliesin Preservation Kitchen Gardener, Abbie Lehman. The class will begin by discussing foraging basics at the base of the trail, followed by a moderate 1.1-mile loop to identify common autumn wild edibles. Participants will also discuss Frank Lloyd Wright’s connection to the Driftless region and how it inspired a culture of working with and learning within the natural environment.
By the end of the course, you will learn why, where, and how to forage safely and responsibly, as well as key identification techniques and common plant families. This event is open to all skill and knowledge levels! We welcome participants of ALL abilities, including those who may not be able to undertake the 1.1-mile hike (discussion during the first hour will cover all core topics and many of the wild edibles expected along the path).
Please note: Foraging on Phoebe Point Trail without express permission from the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation is prohibited. Participants must follow the guides’ instructions to ensure minimal environmental impact.
