Native Art Marketplace

Join us for a free two-day celebration of the art and culture of Wisconsin’s First People, as part of an ongoing partnership between Little Eagle Arts Foundation (LEAF) of Wisconsin Dells and Taliesin Preservation. The Native Art Marketplace will fill the iconic Hillside School with LEAF roster artists demonstrating and describing their creative process across a wide range of traditional and contemporary artforms, including paintings, jewelry, black ash baskets, sculpture, and quill and beadwork. An abundance of Native arts and crafts will be available for sale! Performances and storytelling highlighting the traditions of Wisconsin’s First People will be on display throughout the day in the historic Hillside Theater. Participants can also try their hand at making a free bead and quill friendship bracelet.

Featured Artists Include:

• Sandra Peterson (Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe): Traditional Ojibwe basket/wiigwaasii makak teacher and basket artist.
• Linda Lou Metoxen (Diné): Sculptor whose artwork reflects on objects and beings connected to her Native American upbringing.
• Christopher Sweet (Ho-Chunk/White Earth Ojibwe): Painter and muralist.
• Leah Winneshek (Ho-Chunk): Jewelry and bead artist.
• Kimberly Crowley (Ho-Chunk): Black ash basket artist.
• Melanie Tallmadge Sainz (Ho-Chunk): LEAF Executive Director and cultural arts specialist.
• Scott Hill (Oneida Nation of WI): Painter and sculptor.

Please note: The Taliesin home will not be accessible to attendees (visiting the home requires separate tour tickets). Guests should only consume bottled water inside the Hillside School. Carry-in alcohol, pets, and smoking are not permitted. Cash is appreciated for the marketplace!

Registration Check-in: Registration for this event is by car. Due to parking constraints, pre-registration is required for guaranteed admission. Carpooling is highly recommended. Guests should arrive directly at Hillside School and follow staff directions regarding parking.
