Paul Joseph Ryan’s ‘The Little Strange Forest in the Library’

Event Series (See All)

August 7 @ 10:00 am 5:00 pm

Paul Joseph Ryan is the featured artist in the Glass Case Gallery in August. He tells about himself and his exhibit:

“I’m an artist and poet who lives in Dodgeville.

For the past several years I’ve been making a series of what I call “Unbound Books”.

This latest, The Little Strange Forest in the Library, was made specifically for the glass case at the Spring Green Community Library. Thus it shall stand for August and then no more.

I love libraries.

The first one, in my old home town, I walked into holding my mother’s hand. Thereafter, I usually went alone. The library was my sanctuary, my palace, my paper horse and my ticket to ride. It was my launchpad, my spaceship and splashdown. It was the playground of my mind. And it still is.

The Little Strange Forest in the Library is about how one sees, not with one’s eyes, but with one’s mind. From dreams to AI, the frontiers are boundless and always open for the brave.”

This exhibit is available for viewing during regular library hours (Monday-Thursday: 10 AM – 7 PM • Friday: 10 AM – 5 PM • Saturday: 10 AM – 1 PM) in the Glass Case Gallery.
