This week I am writing about a winter camping and ice fishing trip that I went on with my 19-year-old daughter, Selina Walters. We headed over to Buffalo City, which is about 35-miles north of LaCrosse on the Mississippi River and hiked in a short way, pulling Otter sleds loaded with gear to our destination.

We spoke with him about his background, what he enjoys most about being an outdoors writer and canoeing down the Lower Wisconsin Riverway. Below are his responses, edited for clarity and space.
Follow along each week on the adventures of Mark Walters, a syndicated outdoor adventure columnist who lives in Necedah, Wisconsin. He began writing his column, An Outdoorsman’s Journal, in 1989.
