River Valley High School Virtual Solo and Ensemble Results.
The RV Golf team began it’s season on April 27 at the Prairie du Chien Golf Course, RV scored 182. Individual scores include, Eli Johnson’s one over par 37, followed by Ashton Price – 46, Connor Fields – 48, Luke Snow – 51, and Jackson Thier – 52. Eli Johnson and Lancaster’s Noah Kirsch tied as medalist for the match.

The River Valley Trap Team shot it’s third competition of it’s five competition season this weekend, and is preparing to score a championship win next month.
After months of working with state government, education and health leaders, schools in all 50 states have been given the go-ahead to resume high school sports at some level of competition. Schools in the District of Columbia were the last to receive the green light on April 1. This is great news and signals that a return to normalcy may be on the horizon by the time schools begin sports and activities this fall.

The 51st Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Gymnastics State Championships will take place Saturday, Feb. 27. Junior Lorisa Shatrawka of River Valley/Barneveld will compete at Elite Performance Gymnastics in La Crosse, Wis., under Division 2, which will be hosted by Onalaska High School. Both divisions will be conducted in two sessions. The first is scheduled to begin at noon with the second session to follow at 5 p.m.

The River Valley-Barneveld gymnastics team took home a win at the SWC Conference championship Feb. 11 in Dodgeville.
Following four games on the road, the RV Boys Basketball team took on Regionals Tuesday against Westby, and went home with a 56-52 win.
Next, the Blackhawks go back on the road to take on the Richland Center Hornets Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. in another WIAA Regional match-up.
After a ten day mandatory recess due to COVID-19 protocols the River Valley girls basketball team resumed play this past week. Despite the lack of practice and having numerous games canceled the Blackhawks returned to normal action by having four games in one week.
River Valley Mock Trial competed in the Wisconsin High School Mock Trial Regionals on Saturday, February 6 and Sunday, February 7. The regional was conducted virtually with the River Valley trial members performing at the high school and the opposition schools at their homes or local campus. The tournament was coordinated from La Crosse with judges from the La Crosse area. The regional consisted of two trials per day, with River Valley representing the prosecution twice and the defendant twice.

The mid-January schedule challenged the River Valley Girls basketball team as they played six games in ten days against top competition from the area. Despite playing competitive basketball for portions of the games, on both ends of the floor, the Blackhawks were unable to secure a victory.
In a normal year it would be surprising to play a team with six more games played than their opponent. In the 2020-21 season, it’s just one of many unusual circumstances surrounding high school athletics. Lancaster came to River Valley last Tuesday night with a record of 10-2, going against the 2-2 Blackhawks.
On Dec. 28, the RV girls squared off with Barneveld in a non-conference matchup. The Blackhawks came into the game looking for their second win against five losses, while Barneveld was playing their first game of the season. Unfortunately for the RV girls, this game would be close throughout, but Barneveld ultimately prevailed 42-37.
The River Valley boys basketball team has a history of playing – and often winning – close games against Dodgeville. Last Monday night was no exception, as the Dodgers travelled to the River Valley gym to open their season. While the Blackhawks had played several games, this was both a season and SWC opener for Dodgeville, due to COVID precautions. Those who have grown accustomed to tight games between these rival schools would not be disappointed in this contest, whether they were watching in person or on RVTV.
