Deb Cavanaugh’s Quilts in the Community Room Gallery
August 22 @ 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Deb Cavanaugh’s quilts are featured in the Community Room Gallery during August.
Deb shares her quilting history. “The first quilt I ever saw was given to me by my husband’s grandmother, Victoria Bindl. I looked at it and thought, ‘I could never do that.’ Instead I read everything I could on the history of quilting and the personal stories of some of the women who made quilts. Later, I learned to tie quilts in my homemakers group. Since I don’t know the rules of quilting, I could break them. Among my favorite quilts are traditional patterns where I have done them in a way that is not traditional. It has been over 50 years of learning and I am still learning.”
Deb will be showing additional quilts at a presentation in the Community room on August 18 at 2 PM. All are welcome.
This exhibit is available for viewing during regular library hours (Monday-Thursday: 10 AM – 7 PM • Friday: 10 AM – 5 PM • Saturday: 10 AM – 1 PM) when the Community Room is not in use. Visitors should ask for the key at the circulation desk.
