Each year, around 240,000 licenses to pursue white-tailed deer with archery equipment are sold in the Badger State. It is a popular activity that requires hunters to get close to their quarry in order to make an effective shot. Crossbows, compound bows and traditional bows are all legal for propelling broadhead tipped arrows or bolts (short crossbow arrows). Proficiency with vertical bows (compounds and traditional) take hours of practice to insure that the archer and bow can be accurate enough to make an ethical shot.
