The American Red Cross urges eligible donors of all blood types to schedule a blood donation appointment and give blood to help ensure a sufficient blood supply for patients in need. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there is an urgent need for blood donations.
The Red Cross follows COVID-19 safety protocols, including temperature checks, face coverings, and social distancing, to protect donors and staff. Donors are also asked to bring a photo ID, such as a driver’s license or passport.
Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
