Opening Night: Sueño

American Players Theatre 5950 Golf Course Rd, Spring Green

Join American Players Theatre for the opening night of Sueño. Translated and adapted by José Rivera from the play by Pedro Calderón de la Barca, and directed by Marcela Lorca, this production is a fantastical fairy tale where old-world verse and modern wit mingle. A love letter to the Spanish Golden Age, this theatrical exploration of fate versus free will follows Prince Segismundo, who is imprisoned from birth due to a prophecy claiming he would become a tyrant. When his father, King Basilio, decides to release him to test his true nature, a funny, absurd, and strangely beautiful take on a 17th-century classic unfolds.
